For business
Lamp shades for restaurants, hotels and shops
A restaurant with twelve tables needs twelve shades that agree with each other and with the ceiling height they hang from. We draw against your room, your fittings and your bulbs, and the light they throw is designed rather than left to chance.
What businesses order
All of it is made on the same machines, in the same building, by the people who drew it. A run of twenty is the normal size here, not an exception.
- Matched shades, across a room Twelve tables, twelve shades, one drawing. They hang at the height your ceiling gives you rather than the height a catalogue assumed, and they throw the same pattern on every wall. How a run is ordered
- Onto the fittings you already have Most rooms do not need rewiring, they need a shade that fits the pendant that is already there. Tell us the fitting and we draw the collar to it. Send a photograph
- Table and counter pieces Small shades for a table that has to stay usable: low enough to see over the top of, wide enough to keep the light on the cloth, and drawn so the glare never reaches a guest's eye. Message us
- Wall sconces and corridor light For the long wall nobody knows what to do with. A sconce that throws upward turns a corridor into a room, which is cheaper than any other way of doing that. Message us
- Your mark, in the shadow A logo cut into the shade appears on the wall rather than on the object. It is the one piece of branding a guest photographs on purpose. Send your logo
- Signage that is lit from inside Room numbers, table numbers and the sign over the door, made as the light rather than lit by one. Message us
Send the room with the lights on
A photograph taken in daylight tells us what the room looks like. A photograph taken at the hour people are actually in there tells us what we are designing for, which is a different question. Send the second one, and the ceiling height with it.
Bulbs
Every shade is drawn for an LED bulb: cool running, and long enough lived that a room of twelve is not a monthly job. Tell us what is in the room now and the drawing is made to suit it. Every piece carries a QR code that opens its own instructions, which is the page to hand to whoever looks after the room, so the right bulb goes back in at three in the morning without anybody phoning us.
How a run works
We draw the shade and print one, at our cost, and post it to you. You hang it, see what it does to your wall at night, and say what you want moved. Then we make the run. The first one is where the pattern gets decided, and it is decided in your room rather than in ours.
Colour, and what light does to it
A shade is a colour twice: the colour it is with the light off, and the colour it throws with the light on. Those are not the same decision, and a colour chosen from a swatch in daylight is chosen for the wrong one of them. We will print both and let you see.
Quantities
Twelve shades and a hundred and twenty differ in machine hours rather than in setup. Nothing is moulded, so a second run next year in a different colour is a reprint and not a retooling.
